"The moment I open the Tupperware containing the cranberry orange cupcakes, the aroma of orange fills the air and makes me feel like I'm back in the orange packing plant that I got to tour last week in California. Can I just say that an orange packing plant is such a happy smelling place to be?

As I move the cupcake closer to my mouth to take a bite, the more subtle smell of the ring of cranberry (it looks kind of like a ring of fire, but I keep resisting calling it that because that just isn't a good thing) tickles my nose. I can't help but take a quick lick before biting into the cupcake. Once I bite in, the texture of the nuts and cranberries in the cupcake provides a nice crunch sound and I struggle to not eat the whole thing in one big bite!"

Scent- Apple Butter Pie

Apple butter pie is an amazing fragrance that will remind you of your grandma's kitchen. It is the perfect arrangement of tart pie apples, apple butter, evaporated milk, cinnamon, and buttery, flaky pie crust.

Apple Butter Pie Recipe

6-8 Servings
Prep: 5 min. Bake: 45 min. + cooling

Ingredients

1/2 cup apple butter
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
2 cups evaporated milk
Ground cinnamon
1 unbaked pastry shell (9 inches)

Directions

In a bowl, combine apple butter, egg, sugar, flour and milk; mix well. Pour into the pie shell; sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake at 425° for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350°; bake 35 minutes more or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Store in the refrigerator. Yield: 6-8 servings.

Scent- 7 Up Pound Cake

A perfect blend of warm cake, almond, vanilla, lemon, lime and sugar.

7 Up Pound Cake Recipe

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
5 eggs, at room temperature
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup 7 UP

For the Glaze:

1/4 cup 7 UP
1/2 cup sugar

Preheat oven to 300°F. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.

Combine butter, shortening, sugar, vanilla and almond extract in the bowl of an electric mixer. Beat until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt, and add to butter/sugar mixture alternately with 1 cup 7 UP, beating well after each addition.

Spoon batter into prepared 10-inch tube pan, and bake for 1 hour and 45 minutes, or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then invert on serving plate and remove pan.

While cake is cooling, make the glaze by stirring together the 1/4 cup 7 UP and 1/2 cup sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, and boil 1 to 2 minutes or until sugar is completely dissolved. Punch holes in top of warm cake with a toothpick. Spoon glaze over cake, and cool completely before serving.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! It's a new year and a new beginning! This is Hyla from Green Earth Journey and for the most part I will be taking over the internet part of Carousel Candles. Maybe from time to time we will see the owner, Nancy, pop in here and let us know what is new on her side of things!

On this blog I will be highlighting the different scents and pretty soon I will open the Etsy store front! I will also be updating you will links to reviews on blogs. We have planned to send out a couple of candles each month for bloggers to review. If you are interested please let us know by emailing CarouselCandles2009@gmail.com.

We have not forgotten the candles that were promised to the bloggers that first left comments on one of Nancy's post. I will be getting in touch with you all again and I will let you know when to expect your candle!

Nancy did not want to send out any candles prematurely or half done. We have just now gotten the labels, business cards, and the jars, that she wanted to get together so we can send you the full and finished product.

I LOVE the final business card. The look is absolute! I was able to save it my computer and will try to print them off in the morning. I guess the next big hurdle is the actual label for the jars. I saw the sights you sent me, again I am going to check them out in the morning. Thanks for scoping the net for me and coming up with some sites that I have not looked at yet.

Hi all.....I just wanted to take a quick minute to let everyone know how much I appreciate your support and patience while I put this business on it's feet! I have run into a snag with the bottle company I was going to purchase from. Their shipping cost is going to be higher than the actual total cost of the jars I was going to order. If I stay with this company my cost to customers would have to go up by about $.75 cents. Being a young company I am not happy about the prospect of doing that. One of the purposes of this business was to bring people a quality candle with a great scent throw at a very reasonable price. The company I was looking at is called "Specialty Bottle". I have just about pulled my hair out searching the net for another company I can do business with. I am looking for a brown amber recycled glass jar approximately 6 to 9 ounces. If anyone has any suggestions or sites that I can check out please please send them along. I want to get up and running but DON'T want to compromise my product. Thanks!!

Welcome to my candle shop blog. This is a first for me as I have never "blogged" before. My daughter-in-law has had to walk me through this like a baby taking their first steps! lol She also put this page together for me. Lots of talent there huh? Anyway, this is just the beginning of what I hope is going to prove to be a great start to a business I have wanted to put into motion for the past several years now. My candles are 100% natural right down the recycled brown glass jars and black lids. Even the paper labels are done on recycled paper. My wax is 100% pure soy, no additives. The wicks come from Germany and are 100% hemp, the oils are organic, and the color dye is made from natural products as well. It took me several months to find all the "right" materials I wanted for this candle but am now on my way. I will have a complete scent list and candles will be ready for sale within the next two weeks! I am so excited about this. I make them from my home, in a room I have set aside that we now call, "the candle room", so this is also a "cottage candle" in that it is being manufactured in a small home setting instead of in a big factory giving off toxic fumes. I will try to come back here each day and post updates on the progress. Thanks for visiting my site and hope that you come back again!

This is a great looking business card. Just a few "tweaks" and I think it will be perfect. Drop the first line down a bit so it isn't so close to the actual name of the company, and take out the space between the next two lines so that they are more centered in the middle of the card. I think once that is done this mockup will be ready to go to print.
